It's got to be bad to be good.

In the Autumn of 1975, Kurt began rehearsals for By Bernstein, or as one critic put it..."Lenny's Leftovers." A fun evening assembled by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, it featured "cutouts" from West Side Story, Candide, On The Town, Wonderful Town, Peter Pan, The Skin Of Our Teeth and others.  The cast included Ed Dixon, Patricia Elliott, Janie Sell and had a decent run at The Westside Theatre.  Songs included "The Story of My Life" from Wonderful Town, "Shrimps", sung by Anybodysfrom West Side Story, "Lonely Me" which was replaced by "Lonely Town" in On the Town and the first hearing of the now famous "syphilis song" that was cut from Candide,  "The Moor from Iran."

Leonard Bernstein attended  frequently. He often mixed with the cast after the show and would relate great stories well into the evening.
